SuperCamp: a win-win summer holiday solution with teens
The summer is knocking on the door and you still haven’t decided about your holiday. No worries, you aren’t the only one. I just found a promising solution which I decided to share with You.
I took some time to do some research to plan a perfect
holiday with teens. My entire life I have had the opportunity to find myself in
this situation and thank God we managed well with our Goddaughter and nephew
– They might be the first to have some input here, and I certainly hope that
the feelings are mutual!
So back to planning: Some teens get excited about family
travel plans, while others roll their eyes. But don’t let that put you off
going on holiday with them. And don’t for a moment think that they no longer want
to go on holiday with you, they just don’t want to go on the same type of holiday you took them on when they
were five.
Even if you have enthusiastic teens who don’t mind
separating from friends and Facebook, you’re likely to encounter impatience at points
along the way. The SuperCamp might be just the right thing for teens and
parents too.
This is for sure a way to prevent a battle on your trip,
and even bond a little.
What
is the SuperCamp about?
SuperCamp’s main mission is to prepare teens for a
lifetime of success. It’s the number one camp of this kind and the only you can
find in Europe.
In
their academic program the students learn how to learn:
Sharpen study skills.
Read more efficiently and effectively.
Improve reading speed.
Improve writing.
Accelerate memorization speed.
Take meaningful notes.
Improve test-taking.
Communicate more effectively.
Life-skills
training covers six areas:
Character
Communication
Goal-setting
Leadership
Moving out of natural comfort zone
Career skills
At some point, the breakthrough happens – the realization
that they can overcome what may be holding them back and they can set and
achieve new goals using the new tools they’ve learned.
Students arrive at SuperCamp knowing they have to
learn and they leave SuperCamp wanting
to learn.
This unique teen enrichment program helps students improve
their grades, discover their confidence, and develop the motivation they need to
achieve success at school, at home, in college and beyond.
It takes place in Northern Italy, in the Dolomite
mountains – an idyllic place where parents can explore the countryside or tiny
towns, or just enjoy the romantic atmosphere.
Back to my research: I have found some advice on how to
plan a perfect holiday with a teen. At the same time, I would like to show how the
SuperCamp program can support a successful holiday.
· Involve them in the planning. Let them fall in love with Northern Italy. It’s for sure not a challenge.
Just pass on your enthusiasm. Eating in Italy is a serious business. You can find
a perfect pizza and pasta on every corner, and you can learn from locals how to
prepare them, too. Do you know any teen who would not love it? Sitting on the
piazza, having a real Italian coffee and being just lazy, observing the locals speak
with their hands – a priceless experience. And, at least once in a lifetime, you need to experience how the Italians watch
football. Even if you’re not watching the match on TV, you can hear your neighbourhood
cheering when their team scores. And last but not least, La Vespa – let them dream
about driving a Vespa along those beautiful landscapes trough romantic villages,
cities and open roads.
·
Try something new. Well, just visiting another
country always makes you feel like trying something new: food, habits, culture,
language – it’s just so fun to live the life of another culture, especially the
home of Pizza & Pasta. Wherever you go, you are surrounded by a slice of history
and of course, the people who make a place so unique.
·
Fueling their adrenaline. SuperCamp includes
all day at an exciting adventure park right on the property – so adrenaline
lives just next door.
·
Solo exploring. It’s not just simply solo
exploring some place, but this is the great opportunity to explore their own
personality, to meet themselves, to understand who they are.
·
Compromising between Parents’ & their Kids’
desires. While the kids are at camp,
parents can visit all the places that perhaps their kids wouldn’t want to. And
while the teen(s) are developing their skills, making new friendships with other
teens, fueling their adrenaline, you can relax and have some ‘grown-up time’
together.
·
‚Fitting in’ and ‚fear of missing out’. Fortunately, SuperCamp program works on these feelings,
too. After 8 days, you will meet a person who has no more fear of those feelings
above.
·
A Family that Plays Together – Stays Together. On the last day of the program, parents get their
very own Parent Workshop – so they
learn some of the skills their teen has. There’s a special ceremony, and after
camp, when the family rejoins, you can plan those downtime moments together.
Keep in mind that sleeping in seems to be a human right that teenagers hold
dearly. And then, start the new school year off on the right foot!
The list looks like a perfect win-win summer holiday solution
with teens. This summer, give the greatest gift to your teen to help them find for themselves the love of learning
– and perhaps become an independent, self-motivated learner. While at the same
time, you as a parent can freely explore everything that your teen might not be
interested in – and then, still have time together to bond as it is never too late.
